Hi there, I’m Danielle Quijada.

I’m your digital marketing bestie and social media mentor with the strange, American accent. I use a variety of digital marketing and storytelling skills to help your local business create dynamic and effective strategies to achieve your goals and objectives, like generating more leads.

After living locally for 7 years, it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the English South Coast, where I am proud to now call home. It also didn’t take me long to see how small, local businesses are important in making our towns into communities – full of life, depth, character and really good, local products. 

Now, I’m on a mission to empower you, as a passionate business owner, with pocket-friendly, purpose-driven and tailor-made strategies that ignite lasting change.

The Origin Story

Like many origin stories, the creation of SoCo Marketing Collective began with lots of small, individual moments leading to that big lightbulb realization. 

After a long day at my previous role, I walked along the pebbled seafront as cotton candy skies engulfed the white chalk cliffs. Suddenly, that soft, metallic ding went off in my head: digital marketing and multimedia storytelling can be both impactful and accessible to small, local businesses with the right dynamic and adaptable approach. 

Before creating SoCo Marketing Collective, I worked as a social media and communications officer in one of the education departments at East Sussex County Council for nearly 4 years. As the sole social media and communications officer for the department, I helped more than 400 staff members and more than 10 different teams improve their social media presence, digital media marketing, email newsletter strategy, brand identity, partnership relations, graphic design techniques and more. My previous role helped me to strengthen and develop a wide range of skills, but I was ready to expand my creativity and take my skills further. 

Ultimately, I was ready to create marketing solutions that make a difference for businesses like yours so that we can preserve the character, charm and individuality of our seaside communities together. 

What makes SoCo Marketing Collective different is the constant curiosity to learn and grow alongside you, as well as a fiery ambition to empower you with dynamic techniques that make your local business survive and thrive in a world oversaturated with choice for consumers.

Before making the English seaside my home, I studied my master’s degree in London. In 2018, I obtained an upper second-class honours degree in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism Master’s Programme from the University of Westminster. In 2017, I obtained a second-class honours degree from one of the top journalism and mass communications schools in the USA, the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.

For more than 10 years, I have worked in a variety of communication and media roles, including international reporting, social media management and marketing. But, creating SoCo Marketing Collective is my most exciting venture yet.
